Jazz Club: Rum Gone Wrong on My Skin

Maison Margiela Jazz Club is a 2 out of 5 for me, and it surprised me because I expected to love the whole smoky bar vibe. On paper the notes sound perfect, but on my skin the combination turns the rum accord sour and kind of off putting, like the sweetness curdled into something sharp and funky. The opening starts promising with that boozy warmth, but pretty quickly the rum note takes a weird turn and stays front and center. Instead of smooth and cozy, it reads more like a harsh, sour spill that never fully blends back in. The tobacco and woods try to ground it, but the off rum effect keeps poking through the whole wear. Performance is fine, it lasts and it projects enough, but that does not help when the main vibe is not working for me. It becomes a scrubber situation, or at least something I would only ever test again in cold air to see if it behaves differently. Overall, Jazz Club is a miss on my skin. If you get a smooth rum tobacco experience, I get rum that goes sour and throws the whole scent off.

Lasting impression

One of my favorite scents. I got this for my husband and I LOVE it on him. I love how the scent just takes me to a memory. Scent is bold but not too strong. It leaves a lasting impression.

Winter banger

The performance on this is beast mode!! Savage date night smell and great for winter and fall. I always wear this at night in Washington weather and it is always a reliable fragrance. Not too strong and not too weak.

Sweet, booziness with the right amount of smoke

Just like all other maison margiela fragrances this takes you to a moment in time and unlocks a memory. Jazz club is a boozy, warm, masculine scent. It truly does take you to a jazz club or piano bar where the alcohol is flowing and the cigar smoke is in the air. This has just the right amount of smoke in it and is not over powering and the sweet booziness is the star of the show. I just wish they would make it in a edp or parfum concentration to boost the performance. It’s great for going on a quick dinner date or a night out but you will not get but about 4-6 hours out of it

Be prepared to be transported to the city streets with this addictive lyrics sultry fragrance that keeps you coming back for more. It's bold enough on its own so there's no layering needed with all the sophisticated notes it carries on its own. With notes of pink pepper, rum absolute and tobacco leaf it fully embodies the jazz club vibes being strong and masculine without overbearing. It carries with you through the day and smells absolutely incredible

I didn’t like it at first spray because the woody and smoky notes felt really strong and a bit too much. It honestly surprised me. But after giving it a try and letting it sit on my skin, it softened up a lot. It has the smell of smoky cigar and the amber rum comes in which make it slightly sweet. It stays on my skin for around at least 4 hours. So it is worth to try.

Smoooooth Jazz

This is my favorite winter time scent. It takes you to a dark jazz club off bourbon street in New Orleans. You’re enjoying a cigar and having an old fashion while listening to some divine tunes. The scent is perfection.

Wonderful tobacco scent for the nighttime and wint

Wonderful and approachable tobacco scent. Longevity ls pretty good for an EDT. I would love for Margiela to extend this line with some EDPs to heighten the longevity. Really good scent overall though! This has to be the best in the line.
