Great Blending, Noticed Pink Dye When Washing

I’ve repurchased the original Beautyblender many times over the years as a mua and it’s always been a staple in my makeup routine and bag. It blends foundation and concealer beautifully and gives a seamless, natural finish every time.However, with this most recent one, I noticed pink dye coming out when I washed it after only a few uses, which has never happened to me before. I got concerned for the product I use differently to my skin. Especially with such an expensive skin care routine that I have maybe this product is so full of color and chemicals that defeats the purpose of my routine. It still performs well, but it was a bit surprising. Overall, I still use the original Beautyblender and consider it one of the best makeup sponges available. Hopefully this was just a one time issue.

Effective, but lasts ~2-3 months without damage

I enjoy using beauty blenders to apply my foundation and concealer. However, I would be remiss if I didn’t highlight the fact that you can expect these tools to remain in their original condition (sans foundation coloring) for roughly 2-4 months. Any longer than that will result in rips and tears depending on what area of the blender you use most often. I clean my blender every 2 weeks or so, and should probably do it more, but I fear that handling it more than that leads to even more tears. As someone who doesn’t have long or fake nails and takes care of my blender, storing it in its original plastic container, this should be noteworthy to people who won’t put in that effort. After the tearing gets to a point, I will take a blade (usually to the top, but sometimes to the sides) and cut the point off, leaving what looks like a pink boiled egg with a sliver of its top cut off. I will keep doing this until I get halfway down or so and finally have to throw it away due to being unable to grip it properly. If you do this and can tolerate not using the pointed end of the blender, your blenders can last up to 1.5-3 years. However, if the point is necessary for you to apply your makeup, you can attempt to recut it in a pointer version of that shape or be forced to keep buying these things every few months. As most of my brushes have lasted me around 5-8 years (with most still going strong!), this relatively short lifespan for a tool is disappointing. When I finish the last beauty blender I have (almost all I’ve had came in Sephora Favorites kits or were gifted), I will likely be switching to a more reliable product.

Forever my favorite gift to give and receive! Beauty blenders are amazing for all makeup lovers plus they are high quality, don’t absorb too much liquid makeup and easy to clean. Would highly recommend!
