Great for thin, aging hair!

I have fine, thin, wavy, color-treated aging hair. This gives me volume w/o using products, and makes my hair look fantastic. I have the older version in the brown tub and the smell is strong, but not offensive. I've tried the women's version, while that is good, if you're looking for volume and bouncy hair, this works a LOT better.

it works!

this review is after using this product for the first time. I will update it if any of the information changes. I'm a woman with short, fine flat hair in a pixie cut. I used a small amount of the shampoo, and it didn't really lather. I worked it through my hair and rinsed iand and my hair did feel squeaky clean. Just for the heck of it I took another little bit and applied it to my scalp, and this time it lathered profusely. When I went to blow dry my hair with my Dyson curling brush I had difficulty because my hair was so soft and light that the brush had difficulty catching it. I used none of my normal bodybuilding products, and my hair has way more volume than it normally does with those products. it is also extremely soft and shiny. I am impressed, and at this point, I expect to continue to use this product.

Slight differences with new packaging

This is different from the previous packaging (brown jar). Scent is less strong and the texture is thicker and more paste-like, for me this means that it stays together better once I apply it to my scalp. Still an excellent product for fine hair! Personally I dislike the new packaging design but that doesn't impact my review.

dries your scalp, can cause dandruff

Smells nice, cleans .... but caused me to have a severe dandruff after the second use. Careful!

Girl user here. About 14 years ago, half of my hair fell out gradually, I think from using the birth control pill. It's never grown back and I've spent my adult life searching for ways to make my pin straight, oily-ish hair look thicker. Keratin hair fibers are my best friends (try Caboki!). I've bounced from every volumizing product on the planet and even going to the Mayo clinic to investigate. Nothing has really appeased me, but this is the very first shampoo that has made me a believer. It obviously isn't a miracle worker and doesn't give me more hair, but I find that the volume of my hair lasts longer than I've ever seen before. It does not dry out my hair (and I never use conditioner or any pre-blow dry products), and gives me a texture akin to just leaving the salon. I read reviews saying this shampoo doesn't lather and I'm confused because this shampoo lathers so much that I sometimes use the extra foam as body wash. A finger or two scoop, massage into your scalp, and voila. I also have used a full container of this and then tried the "girl" version for the scent and I both did not like the scent and did not think it worked as well. This says it has 95% natural ingredients and the girl version only has 85%. I will continue buying this as long as it's available. It's expensive, but so worth the peace of mind for thin hair sufferers.

I bought this for my boyfriend who has fine hair. He loves this shampoo and it makes his hair look fuller.

I want to hesitate to give this a 5 stars but I can’t. It’s too good. I want it all for myself. Also, I read reviews on the women’s version of this and it doesn’t seem as effective as this formulation. After first use my long, thin and often oily hair was transformed into a luscious, thick (still long of course) mane. I would 10/10 recommend as this will be a mainstay in my hair care.

Definitely a his and hers

Bought it for him but i use it cause i actually like the smell and i tested it and now im addicted it leaves my hair soo full and light and soft omg soft did i say soft i damaged the life out of my hair this has brought it back now my guy has silk hair and im freaking jealous his scalp feels so much better it helped with the dry scalp and dandruff he loves it will not use anything but this and a small amount goes a long way i use conditioner first then this scrub i dont have to wash so often so have you bought it yet? Cause im buying another lol

Got this for my boyfriend who is only 22 but has already started experiencing thinning in the front of his hairline and it worked so well! After only a few weeks of using it his hair looks a lots more dense

Better than the Volumizing Paste with Rose

I will continue to repurchase this- love it. I have balayaged fine, but thick, shoulder-length hair. The pasty/grainy texture is great for deep cleansing, but I use this as my regular shampoo (wash 1-2x/week). I don't always need to condition after using, but I do use a leave-in treatment if not following with the CR Regenerating mask. Hair is soft, bouncy, clean without feeling overly stripped, and I can go longer without washing it. I've been using for 6 months and there is a noticeable improvement in the condition of my hair- thicker, fuller, healthier. i prefer this over the CR Rose Volumizing Paste- I can go longer in between washes and it's just better. The only real difference other than that is the scent, which is like luxuriously unisex and doesn't linger. 10/10

I realize that there were just a handful of reviews on this prior to me purchasing but it was a 5 star product. I was so hopeful that this would be a great addition to my ongoing quest to keep my very fine, thinning hair (aging and auto-immune issues) in the best shape possible (and I am a realistic). I have tried this twice since I purchased it and it has not wowed me at all. My hair feels and looks weighed down. It makes it too soft which for me equates to unmanageable. I was so hopeful! To be fair, I am not sure what the outcome would be after long tern use but I can't bring myself to use this given the end result. This is a expensive product that I will not be able to return because of Sephora's limited return policy. Big waste of money for me!
